New Year, New Me, New Content

Hey guys, we are FINALLY in 2019! I hope you all got into the new year well?
I, for once, went to a party with a bunch of my old school friends and ended up having a great time! Though as lovely as it was seeing everyone again, it was also a slightly odd experience. Mostly because I was finally presented with the “adult” version of all my old teenage friends and it was weird seeing how much everyone had changed. Though mostly in appearances as they were all still just as easy and lovely to talk to as they used to be!
At the party, before everyone else arrived, all the girls had decided beforehand to have dinner together. It was a lovely opportunity to catch up and get “re-acquainted” with each other and so we ended up playing a game in which we listed the 3 best things to happen to us in 2018. Mine where:

  • Unintentionally being In WillIAm’s Instagram story at the Black Panther Premiere, because how the hell does that even happen!? I didn’t even notice until it was pointed out to me! It’s so cool!!
  • Meeting Ryan Reynolds in London was truly a highlight as well. What an amazing guy! And SO dreamy too!
  • Going to Universal Studios in Florida.
This one is truly special to me because I never thought I would be able to go and see all the things I saw there. It was an amazing experience that I’ll truly never forget!

It was a great mood booster around the table and nice to reminisce and talk about our highlights like that! And even though they will probably never read this, I still want to thank them for that. It was a great ending to 2018.

However, now we’re in 2019 and hopefully, this will be a year full of even more opportunities and chances. Not just for travelling (Though I think it’s highly unlikely that I’ll be doing much of that any time soon) but also for personal growth.
Last year was a little crazy for me towards the end. Not to mention out of control, so I want to make sure that I take it slower this year and go at my own pace. That’s also why I’ve been meaning to ask you guys what you would like to see more off from me in the coming year. I know I have some opinions about where I want to take the channel/blog and what I want to write/vlog about but we’re all in this together and I would like to hear your opinions.

I’m sorry that it’s a short update today but I want to make sure I have the proper stuff planned and I was out of commission for the entirety of Monday (I got a little tipsy guys, I’m sorry! Remember to drink responsively!!) and Tuesday went by in a flash so I figured it’d be a good idea, that the first blog post in the New Year was one you could all comment on with your own ideas and input!

Lastly, I want to thank you guys for the support you have lent me throughout 2018 and for your continued support in 2019. There are no words to describe how thankful I am to have you guys here with me, following my own personal journey as I stumble through life. It’s nice to know you are out there and that you care. ❤

Anyway, let me hear what you have to say! Questions are also always welcome and I will try to answer them to the best of my abilities!

xoxo

Setting Fitness Goals For Myself In 2018.

Today I’m talking about my feelings when it comes to fitness and working out as well as what type of goals I’m setting for myself in 2018.

So the other day I had a major success experience while working out. I challenged myself to run for a full 45 minutes and I succeeded beyond my own expectation. I ended up running 7.5 km (4.72 miles) which might not seem like a lot for the average accomplished runner but to me it was mind-blowing.
I have never been very fit in any sense of the word. I was pretty athletic when I was a child. Mostly because I was very outdoorsy and loved running around playing football with the other children but once I hit teenage-hood my interests drifted towards a more sedentary lifestyle. Running that far and for that long was an incredible achievement to me, personally, because I had done something I never thought I would be able to do again. That’s why today I thought I would talk a little bit about my feelings towards working out and what goals I want to set for myself in the future when it comes to fitness.

Now to preface people, I don’t particularly like working out. I’ve never been one to be enthused about the idea of sweating for 30-60 minutes in a gym. Getting into the mindset of working out is still a struggle for me even though I know that once I’m in it and once I’m done with it, I feel amazing. That’s usually the case, isn’t it? You dread something so much but once it’s done you feel accomplished and you feel like you can finally tick off that box on the day’s to-do. It works exactly the same way for me. Especially now that I have a somewhat decent fitness level and can keep going without feeling like I’m about to pass out.
Though despite the fact that I don’t enjoy working out I still very much enjoy the benefits of it. I like the feeling of giving my body a proper work out, I like feeling energized, I like that feeling of accomplishment you get after you’ve pushed yourself a little bit further than the last time, which is why it’s something I want to continue doing.
I think it’s important to push yourself to do a little better each time and set goals. Don’t set outrageous goals like you’re going to be able to run like Casey Neistat in one month (Have you seen the man? His running is insane!) because that’s just not something that’s physically possible. Set achievable and realistic goals instead. Something that’s out of your reach but is something that would be possible if you are diligent with yourself and keep working hard.

Here are some of my fitness goals for 2018:

  • I want to continue to work out regularly.
  • I want to find a way to make working out a more enjoyable part of my day.
  • I want to be able to run 10 km in 45 minutes.
  • I want to be able to do at least 10 pull ups.

January update – Time to get your workout on!

January is the time where we put our hard thought out New Years Resolutions into motion! Our thoughts into actions so to speak! It’s time to look at your bullet list for the year and take the next step. One of mine was losing weight and now that 2018 has started it’s time to begin working towards that goal, or at least start planning how i’m going to accomplish that goal.
Here’s what I’ve been thinking:

Keto diet:

Sean and I decided that we would try out a ketogenic diet this time around! A Keto diet is a low carb high fat diet designed to get your body into a state of ketosis. The end goal of a properly maintained keto diet is to force your body into a “metabolic” state by making the body burn fat as well as your fat storages instead of carbs for energy. It’s new, it’s exciting and I hope I can stick with it!

Fitbit:

A Fitbit is a handy little watch that tracks your weight loss progress. I used one the last time I took up my weight loss goal and it was incredibly helpful! It helped me feel motivated to stay on track and even though counting calories is tedious, it really does help and this little device made it so much easier. That’s why i’m thinking I should find it, dust it off and use it!

Running:

I’ve always liked running. It’s monotonous sure, but it’s the one thing I have found that can help me shut off my brain completely. Now that Christmas has passed,  I am now equipped with a brand new pair of running shoes! Now nothing stands in my way!
I’ve never had very impressive results (i’m incredibly ordinary when it comes to running) but i’m hoping that this year I can get to a point where I can run 5 kilometers in 30 minutes. Plus I feel that adding more cardio is always a good idea if you are looking to lose weight!

P90X3 program:

Last time I had a regular workout routine I was following the P90X3 workout program by Tony Horton at BEACHBODY and it was great! Only 30 minutes a day with intense exercises that changed weekly. It was awesome and i loved the way it mixed a bunch of different exercises up while also giving you suggestions for a meal plan as well as dietary suggestions etc. The best part was that it was only those 30 minutes and then you where free for the rest of the day! It was a great way for me to get regular exercise in that i could actually muster up the energy to get done, so i want to continue with that this year.

Regular exercise hours/Scheduling:

I’ve been thinking I need to put my exercise hours in the morning because I am the kind of person who doesn’t necessarily like to exercise when first starting out (I mean who does). That’s why I need to make it something that I do first thing in the morning. Then, once it’s done, it’s out of my way and I can focus on other things. Plus it’ll help me get up earlier in order to get it done!

Push myself to do better:

I need to keep this schedule up once it has become a habit even on travels! That was my downfall last year and I don’t want that to happen again. I was so much happier and healthier last year when I was exercising regularly and eating better and I want to keep that up in 2018!

I am going to make sure I’m 100% healthy again before I throw myself at this, though once that’s cleared I’m gonna go full force at this fool proof fitness plan! I hope you guys have started working on your resolutions too! Please tell me about them in the comments I would love to read them! Also I’m sorry about there not being photos on this post, I just wanted to make a quick update post and I also didn’t know what to photograph and I didn’t want to take any pictures of ME exercising because i would just be looking exhausted, sweaty and possibly falling off the treadmill trying to strike “an interesting pose” lol.

Thanks for reading though! xoxo
